Likely starting Stanford receiver suspended

The Stanford Cardinal wrapped up their first week of training camp with some discouraging news.

Head coach David Shaw announced the suspension of Michael Rector for what was told to be “disciplinary reasons.”

There was not a length associated with the announcement, but the timing does bring into question whether or not Stanford will have him for their opener against Northwestern.

Rector enters this season as the second-leading returning pass catcher on the Cardinal. Although he was not a “starter” last season he was fourth on the team in receptions and yards. He has also started three games over the last two seasons.
